Open Water Diving at Aur and Dayang...

Yes, its one of the most significant and exciting post I have had here in a long time! One of the coolest birthday presents I got was from my dear friend Royston Wu. I have know Royston for quite a while now since my days in KL when he came up with the Ferrari club and with Boon....and instead of giving me a gift, he decided to give me a diving course as my present instead! Royston is a avid diver who has cleared the technical diver stage and diving is something I have always wanted to do but never got the time or courage. After the classroom course and the pool lesson, off we went on our 7 hour trip to one of the best dive spots around, Pulau Aur and Pulau Dayang which is 3 and a half hours off the coast of Mersing.
Well, it was a mixed group of leisure divers and us on the open water course that headed out there on this trip. Was glad that I had Nelson around to give me some confidence and support since Jay and Lora didn't turn up to complete the course this time. However, was also lucky that old friend Benny from Zouk, Fabian (who I used to buy CD's from ages ago) and his brother were around. The islands are totally fantastic with fantastically clear water and a whole host of sealife alll around! Jon and his brother Matthew took very good care of us as instructors and made sure we were well competent in our skills before going to the next stage. I remember on the first time I went down I had a little panic attack but after I went down once....it was smooth sailing! Its hard to imagine but each dive took me half an hour. 3 dives on day one......alot of beer that night (we played a interesting version of poker with beer!) and then 2 dives the next day....and lo and behold...I can now call myself a certified open water diver!!!

FIVB Beach Volleyball!

Whoops...forgot about this entry......STB had invited me to the FIVB beach volleyball tournament at Sentosa so of course I managed to get George and a friend of his, Michelle, Stewart and his girlfriend to join me on a hot and sunny Sunday! Of course its not something that I should forget...beach...beer and bikini's!!! The finals were between Brazil and China and it proved to be a hell of a battle between the girls. Of course the girls actually look like men up close but it was quite a spectacle to watch! Was quite a headache with the Brazil supporters drumming up alot of cheers and hoots and horns. Unfortunately it was right next to Stewart and me who were otherwise nursing a hangover and really could do with less audio at this hour. Anyway...was quite and experience and we did find something called and "Eye Spa" which was very cool indeed! Perhaps the next time we try to do this we will avoid rabid fans wearing blue and yellow!

Closing of the French Festival

What can one say about the French.....they gave us Escargot, Fois Gras, Dimitri from Paris, Luc Besson and Champagne! Alex had invited me to the closing party of Voilah! at Q Bar and who was I to say no to free bubbly! I rocked in there just at the same time as my good friend Franck M. Some hor dourves....some hot girls....and great conversation with friends Pascal and Richard. But of course......the key to a great night out on the town as usual....large amounts of very good Mumms!!!! Sante Modmoiselle et Monsieur!

My Hat Trick @ Singapore International Cup

Stewart had invited me to the most anticipated horse racing event of the year, the Singapore Airlines International Cup witht he biggest purse of $3 million bucks at stake! Its my first time to head to Kranji for a horse race and what a way to go! Corporate BOX with a flow of wine and beer, food and of course air conditioning! Of course since it was the corporate box we did turn up in our most nifty suits and ended up having a ball of a time! Harry Chua also turned up with his girlfriend Angel...and as the racing started.....we all looked for tips to try our luck. Well...after watching the proceedings for the first 2 races, I finally jumped in to the action on race 3 and bombed out! Not a good start! But undaunted......I decided to give it another swing! There was a bit of paper floating around all the Chairman's Tips...and so who was I to disagree with the Chairman! Wind Chaser was the tip and so I put 10 bucks for the win...and guess what??? I scored!!!!!! Next race.....a quick scan....went to place my bet...and hit it again!!!! By this time everyone was getting quite excited...and the guys in the box were cheering me on to see if I could hit a hat trick....and believe it or not....I DID!!! 3 picks and 3 wins in a row!!! Quite a sensation! Nearly as good fun as a big night out on the town actually. Didnt have much luck on the cup race itself though...but none the less.....at least I made some money from the afternoon! Stewart and myself were very lucky to be able to get a lift out from Harry as the 40 000 strong crowd all headed for the door...and in the end we headed to 1 Rochester for a nice bottle of white wine before calling it a day!

Trudi's Very Retro Birthday!

Following Ismay's birthday, Trudi had her birthday party which started as a house party and and that would move onward to MoS 54. Well, Michelle and me got there just as the party was starting and Trudi had themed it as a 70's party and as you would expect from a predominantly expat party....most of her guest did dress up! It was indeed a whole collection of really funky outfits! Everyone certainly had fun that night with all the guest getting down for a right ole' boogie night out on the town! Thats one thing I must comment about these boys, when they let loose they really know how to have a good time and make every effort to follow the theme. At about midnight we had to make a quick run to meet our Swiss friends from Casino Grand Lucern, Wolfgang and his merry bunch who we had met the night before down over at St James! They were quite impresses with the scope and size of the operations there. After that...off we went over to MoS and by the end of the night we were all quite tired of travelling from club to club over the past few days......

Ismay's 21st Birthday!

Yes...young girl Ismay threw her big 21st birthday blast at Zouk and of course everyone was invited! I was actually quite shocked at the turn out! Apart from the usual suspects like Priscilla, Royston, Nelson, Michelle, Lora, Vik, Jacquline....but also Arthur turned up....George popped in...my diving instructors Jon and even Renee....But what I can tell you was that the Moet really flowed that day! At last count, we polished off 12 bottles! So this in addition to the 14 that they had during dinner....and you can see why Ismay was totally smashed by the time she got to Zouk!!!! I am actually amazed how she managed to walk! It was quite good of Jackie and Roy to make sure the sweet birthday girl managed to get back to her hotel. Of course we continued to party on and made it another big night out on the town with spending some time with Lincoln as well!
