John was off and his merry band and crew had a few days off in Singapore....so what did we do? Bring them out to check out SMOOVE at MoS! Well...it sure started out as an interesting nite out on the town since Franck had also arranged a night out....and as things went along....I suppose it was a fun one after 2 bottles of Grey Goose and a bottle of bubbly! Got to remember not to go too nuts on the bubbly! Thanks to Johnny Thunder....Vaughn and the rest of the boys who really showed us how "Da BRUDDERS" git DoWn wit IT! Oh YEA!

John Legend in Singapore!!!

Well....my first major show for the year and it was for a legend.....John Legend to be exact and what a legend he turned out to be! I must say......it was with great anticipation that we prepared for this show...and it was the first show that Ade had been arm twisted to partner me on! She was of invaluable assistance to secure that last minute hotel room nights for the B party when things went a little nuts but it all worked out well in the end! Picking them all up from the airport that Sunday, we split the two groups with John and his merry band heading for the Oriental Hotel and the rest of the band and crew heading to the Orchard Parade Hotel. We settled them in for the night and got an early start to the load in that Monday. Apart from that a number of them needed to get more pages for their passport for their onward trip...everything went off without much of a hitch. Made some new friends....and proved that I still had my touch for production even in a venue like the Esplanade where I had never worked in before. The venue was really beautiful and the show was magical! Kanna Chandran who reviewed the show even gave it very high marks considering he was such a harsh reviewer. The 1700 crowd was on their feet from the first song and everyone had a smashing time! Phil Stanley commented it was one of the best Midas concerts he had attended and believe me...he has attended more than a few! Well....John's nite out on the town kicked off back at the hotel bar with John jumping behind the baby grand at the Axis Bar and doing his thing (much to the concern of the hotel staff who on one hand...loved the fact that they had a legend playing in their otherwise quite bar...and on the other hand...had to ask us to keep the music down!!!!). Oh well....off we went to the next venue...Living Room which was closing but Bar None was open and so we invaded there! It happened to be Sanjay's wedding as well so being a great sport, John's brother and backing singer, Vaughn Stephens got on stage to do a few numbers for the happy but otherwise very drunk couple! Seen in the crowd? None other than PK and David Chin....Shah....and even Debbie from MoS!

Eric Clapton @ SIS

One of the most anticipated concerts to start off the year and I wasn't working on it??? Oh well...it may be all the better! Eric Clapton came back into town after more than 10 years and boy did ole' "Slow Hand" show why he is THE BEST guitarist alive! The concert was sold out months in advance with the top price tickets at $400 bucks! I was luck enough that a good friend gave me a pair of $200 buck seats! Thanks BOSS! You are the Best!!! Everyone that was anyone, including 3 ministers, CEO's, celebrities, music fans and more were in attendance..the carpark was so full of Merc's and BMW's with their drivers you could easily imagine it was a National Day Rally or Bil Gates visiting to give away words of wisdom and hong bao's! Considering I had a gout attack and was in serious pain, Ade did a fantastic job of assisting me in hobbling over to the Indoor Stadium. Patrick Ee was around with Sharon Wang.....and so was my cousin Kelvin who was somewhere backstage with his all access pass. The stage was quite bare but the lighting rig was interesting......with 4 stage follow spots with operators hanging and looking like they were part of circus! The moment the legend took the stage...his tunes just hung in the air. Unfortunately to me..who grew up listening to Bon Jovi and Bananarama, some of it was just over my head...but you could not fault the mastery of music in his fingers. Unfortuantly he did not do "I Shot The Sheriff", "Tears in Heaven" or his other hits...but he did do Layla and Wonderful Tonight! And after? Well...we caught a life from Pat and headed to the Marriott for some food and good company! All together....a good night out on the town if not painful one on the knee! Well....had to get ready for my own show...John Legend arriving the next day!

Its Shaun's Birthday!!!

Yes.....another year older...and another year closer to the grave...thats what happened to Shaun! He finally turns 18!!! (er....I think!) and still is as baby faced as ever....Well, the boys were all ready and waiting at Velvet for him to turn up and of course....it turned out to be a excellent party for the young man and a overall excellent nite out on the town! Ian, Jeremy, KC, Say Yong...even Victor, Lincoln and George were around to celebrate this young man coming of reasonable age! Well...he had his blue liquid cake courtesy of me...and after that...the rest of the night was totally uphill! One thing we all noticed was the number of girls that came over to wish and kiss him!!! Lucky SOD! More and more drinks..and even more girls that came by to wish him a happy birthday! I wonder who got to blow his candle out??? Happy Birthday my friend! Hope you aren't freezing your bits off in London too badly!!!

Velvet then Thumper and finally Fly Dragon???? Where will we end up next!!!

After a fantastic meal with Boon, Sum Yee and David...we headed off to catch Victor before he headed off out of town again and started the night as usual at Velvet. The crowd wasn't particularly happening but we managed to have our own party as usual. As usual, we had quite a few shots. Shawn turned up after some other club and so the party was really got kicking....and as the night progressed....somehow we were motivated to move to Thumper out of all places! Raymond, Alexis and the rest of the Pernod Ricard boys were in action there so we swung in for a few.... It was really strange that even though Victor had only been there twice before, he walked in and everyone seem to know him! More bubbly....more Chivas....and generally more madness led us to decide to head over to DragonFly!!! Now this was even more unusual for us....and as we landed....we walked into half the service crew from Zouk and Velvet having their own New Year's party! OOOohhh! YEAH! It was a serious nite out on the town for everyone, especially Diana who was totally trashed!

Morton's....or Holy COW thats HUGE!

Just as we were recovering from New Year's Eve, Boon invited us to have a good meal to usher in what promises to be a excellent 2007 at Morton's. Yes....Mortons! Believe me.....they serve one HUGE steak for all you cow lover's there...and indeed we did eat our fill! We actually had been offered a 48 ounce porterhouse that looked bigger than my CAT! Well....David, Sum Yee, Ade and me had a good meal and fantastic fellowship to kick off what we all are sure would be a fantastic year and to start off another great night out on the town with Victor at Velvet later....

New Year's Eve 2006

Its that time again....when the year closes with a bang and we look forward to what the future brings! As we remember the many fantastic nites out on the town, we look forward to many more new experience, meeting new friends and throwing more parties! We closed off the year at Velvet with our usual bunch of friends. Victor and Fiona were in attendance, so was George, Stonner (a.k.a. Melvin), Don, Victor Goon, Karen Hoong, Tabla Maniam and Lincoln, Stephen and Shirley, Alvin and a whole host of other good friends! Ian and his brother, Shaun and the rest of the boys were also around but I only caught them at past midnight as they were leaving and I was walking Ade out who had to work the next day. Getting back into the club, we partied hard to the sounds of one of the greatest DJ's around Danny Tenaglia who kept the party well pumped till way after sun up...i.e. about 9 am! Talk about a never ending mountain of shots.....champagne....and assorted other good things to drink....finishing off with my fav Chivas! What a night it was..and a big thank you to the staff of Velvet and Zouk for a truly fantastic party! HICK!!! Here we come 2007!!!
