Yes..the party animal finally records his nights out...and makes an effort to try to at least stay sober to remember what I ended up doing! People always say that its not the destination but the journey that counts...but all I say is that so long as you end up in a room with great music, cool company and a glass of Chivas...the rest doesn't matter.

Franz Ferdinand Comes To Town!
This has indeed been a year of interesting concerts and getting involved with Midas again with the Franz Ferdinand show at the Indoor Stadium was sure interesting! After taking their production manager, Darren, from Attica to Ministry of Sound and eventually to Zouk and introducing him to Lincoln, I was quite excited about the impending show.
I rocked up to SIS at about 6.00 pm. Franz had turned out to be one of the most anticipated shows so far and after getting my friend Jonathan and his crowd into the show to take photos with the boys, we settled down to…..ARGH! When the boys hit the stage and the crowd exploded, all that was left for Michael and myself was to find refuge backstage. The band totally fantastic on stage and the crowd was lapping it up for all it was worth but indeed, I was growing deaf and headed outside to chill and smoke and chat with Cate from the Sony BMG office out of Australia.
Come the end of the night, I heard a real funny story of the General Manager of the Inter-Con Hotel where the boys were staying admonishing Alex (the lead singer) about having a seat in the hotel lobby and having a bite to eat! (Apparently, he was none to nice about it while Alex was most apologetic….more woe to him!) So guess what Alex and the boys do??? They stand on stage in front of a sell out 6000 capacity crowd and invite EVERYONE to have a bite with them at the lobby of the Inter-Con after the show and remind them to bring the fantastic local food that the boys have come to love! WOAH!!! Scary man! I could just imagine the chaos that would ensue! After the show, the boys didn’t want to leave their fans waiting and whisked off to the lobby where they signed every autograph in sight with the 300 plus fans that had thronged the unsuspecting lobby and security staff! Hahahaha! That was really funny! Moral of the story…never piss of a pop star!
The boys went off for dinner at Indochine Waterfront while I did the advance party to the after show gig at Phuture in Zouk. Man….the Sony people and the recording company were really concerned that the band would not turn up…and as rumors flew about them being seen everywhere else from Momo to not coming at all….no one bothers to listen to the promoters representative that is RIGHT THERE! Anyway, the boys swung in…and the host quickly wished that they didn’t turn up with the chaos that descended. Of course the boys quick did their thing and was very polite about it before deciding that it was “their quiet time” and to much ruckus, we legged it to the last venue of the night that had been expecting us…Thumper (as USUAL I hear my regular readers moan!)
Suffice to say, the boys had a fantastic time! It was not as much a circus as when the Black Eye Peas visited but none the less, it was a good time. Adeline came down with her good friend June and staff Chloe who I quickly introduced around. All our Midas team was around like Liz Tong and Stephen Gough…David Chin was in action, Pakistan cricket legend and ESPN host Wasim Akram, Alethea and her girls….and in the end, the boys took to the stage and banged out some fun percussions much to the shock and surprise of the band and management of Thumper! What a LONG nite out on the town!
